Some Gave All – The Joey Graves Foundation was elevated to Elite Contributor Status after making a major contribution to the Marine Memorials Association in San Francisco last month.
“The Marine Memorial Association does so much to support and honor Gold Star Families, it seems more than appropriate that we would contribute to their effort”, said Kevin Graves, Founder and President of the foundation.
Graves started the foundation after his son, SPC Joseph A. Graves, gave his life for his country on July 25, 2006 in Baghdad Iraq. Since then the foundation has raised more than $50,000 and contributed all of the proceeds to various efforts primarily supporting Gold Star Families. The foundation also provides financial support to veteran’s organizations and families of those currently serving.
Says Graves about his sons sacrifice, “My son gave his life serving his country. Through this foundation, he continues to give.”
The Department of Defense has classified all families that have suffered a loss of an immediate family member in combat as a ‘Gold Star Family’. This official designation dates back to WWII.
